If you have a competitive streak, Race Across The World: The Experience is almost guaranteed to get you revved up.
While there’s no obligation to try and beat the clock, it’s definitely an option for those who live for the thrill of winning.
Whether you decide to play in London or Manchester, the stakes are high and the competition is fierce, so we don’t blame you for looking around for advice ahead of the race.
To give you some food for thought, we’re giving you a sneak peek at what some of our past participants have said in their feedback. Do with this advice what you will…

Get Riddle Ready
As you probably already know, there are all kinds of challenges interwoven into Race Across The World: The Experience. Don’t be afraid of the puzzles: everyone gets a time to shine unravelling them, no matter what your area of expertise is.
Of course, you might be like Team Watford and be so into riddles that you deliver your feedback in cryptic form…
“The journey runs true, though the compass did twist and turn. The tasks uncovered wonders unseen. The final task achieved, a sigh of relief was breathed.”
Or you might use a slightly earthier phrase to encourage future teams, like Team Harris Heroes:
“Use your brain.”

Keep An Eye on Your Pennies
Budgeting and keeping an eye on your in-game finances is a vital part of Race Across The World: The Experience.
Only you can decide whether to spend or save, splurge or supplement your budget with “work” while racing, but we’ll let Team 2 Wise Bods let you in on a little secret…
“Totally recommend for a great day out. Plenty of opportunities to stop for (discounted) refreshments along the way!”
Throughout the race, you’ll visit three venues to collect physical puzzles (a mixture of pubs, cafés and bars), all of which offer you an exclusive race discount.
And in case you’re worried about the clock disturbing your refreshment time: don’t be. The timer pauses here until you start it up again!

Give Yourself Enough Time
Regardless of whether you’re going for gold or not, racing across a city takes time. At least 2 or 3 hours, if not longer!
As Team FamilyFeast32 says:
“It took us longer than expected, it was tricky at times but it was so much fun. Very well planned out.”
Allow time for refreshment, exploration, general exploration with your team (especially if you have plans for after the race!).

Pencil in Something Relaxing After The Race
Speaking of which, it might be a good idea to think about what you plan to do after the race ends.
We wouldn’t recommend anything too strenuous (you have just been racing across a city, after all!).
If you’re stuck for ideas, take a leaf out of Team The Fast And The Curious’s book:
“Definitely recommend and hope to do another one soon. Now home to soak my feet and chill.”
Watch Out for Spellcheck
For many of us, spellcheck is a silent, stealthy hero that transforms us from poorly (“ill”) to responsible (“I’ll”), but it might just be your downfall on the race if you’re not careful.
Here’s what Team Not A Clue had to say about it:
“The clues were good but we misspelt a couple of words which cost us time. Overall, a very good experience.”
Throughout the Race, you’ll interact with characters using WhatsApp, and while time is money, it’s worth making sure you’ve typed what you meant to before pressing send: incorrect answers will cost you even more!

Keep The Adventure Going
Finally, a tip from Team Nutty But Nice:
“Brilliant day, right level of clues, hints and interesting places to learn about. Would love to do it again but in another part of London or somewhere else in the country.”
Just because you’ve finished one of our races, that doesn’t mean the adventure should end!
Race Across The World: The Experience is available in two cities, London and Manchester, and both experiences are unique to the cities they’re in! That means you’ll enjoy new puzzles, new routes and new characters wherever you choose to play.
