In case nobody’s asked you yet, how’s your Christmas spirit holding up? Hopefully, the season’s got off to a good start, but if it hasn’t or there’s room for improvement, we thought we’d give you some ideas on how to up the ante.
After all, Christmas spirit isn’t all tinsel, holly and running out of wrapping paper. Sometimes all it takes is a reminder of what’s really important to us: namely, those we love. And a sprinkle of glitter, of course.
Here are just 6, totally optional, recommendations for how to make the Christmas Special of Race Across The World: The Experience even more festive… if you can handle it!

1. Dress In Your Finest Festive Garb
I don’t know about you, but seeing this team wearing their reindeer antlers with pride warmed me up (and it was under 10° last time I checked the outdoor thermometer).
To be clear, there’s absolutely no obligation to dig out your woolliest Christmas jumper, Santa hats, or any special festive apparel if you don’t want to. But if you’re feeling like you could use an extra dose of Christmas spirit, it might be time to break them out!

2. Grab Some Treats Along The Way
For those who have already completed the Manchester or City of London Race Across The World experiences before, you’ll already know that checkpoint venues play a key role in the activity.
But if you’re new to the experience, you might not yet be aware that the races include optional breaks at local pubs and cafes to give you a chance to sit down, rest your feet (and your minds) before setting off on the next leg.
The best part is, teams are offered exclusive racer discounts at these venues, so why not make the most of them? Order a drink, a bite to eat and defrost your fingers for as long as you like: the timer pauses here so don’t head back out until you’re ready!

3. Snap Pics of All The Christmas Lights You See Along The Way
When we said your route will be lit by London’s Christmas lights, we weren’t exaggerating.
We’ve done a lot of research into where the best Christmas displays, lights and decor can be found in London’s West End, and we’ve packed as many of our favourites into the routes as we possibly can.
Allow the shimmering, shining lights to lead the way, and allow yourself a moment or two to bask in the glow by stopping to get some snaps as you go. It’s worth it!

4. Theme Your Team Name
Can’t think of what to call yourselves? No problem, this season is probably the easiest for finding team name inspo.
Get inspired by your favourite Christmas carol, creature, or create a pun worthy of a Christmas cracker joke…the options are truly endless.
PSST: Want to hear some of the top festive contenders so far? We have to give a special shout out to the Jingle Ballers, the Four Reindeer of The Apocalypse, Santa’s Not So Little Helpers and Grinch Gang. And that’s just from last week!

5. Connect With Your Teammates
What’s the use of having a fabulous team name if you don’t take a minute to appreciate your fellow teammates?
Race Across The World: The Experience is a team game, and as the age old saying goes, there’s no “I” in “team”. The moral of most festive tales is that the wintery season is all about showing those around us a little bit more love, and we really encourage you to do just that during the race.
Simply entering the race with your loved ones is a step in the right direction for getting some festive feelings flowing, but don’t forget to show your teammates a little extra appreciation for being the brilliant people they are along the way…especially when their brilliant minds crack the puzzle before you do!

6. Spread Some Festive Cheer in The Guest Book
Spoiler alert: at the end of the race, you will get to sign your names in the coveted guest book…if you manage to unlock it, that is!
What you might not know is that we also give you the opportunity to leave a nice note for the next teams who come along after you. This could be some words of encouragement, a reminder to keep appreciating their surroundings, or just a nice message to let them know that they’ve achieved something great together.
Be creative…but most importantly, be kind!
