There are now three Race Across The World: The Experiences available to play across the UK, two in London and one in Manchester.
All three share the same core concept: it’s a race across an area in the city with three legs, three checkpoints and one chance to sign the coveted guestbook.

But apart from the game mechanics, everything else is unique to that particular city or area, so that means new puzzles, new routes, new characters, new challenges, new everything!
In other words, each race offers you the chance to uncover something new, unexpected or unique to the place it’s set, and Manchester is no exception.
Here’s what makes the Race Across Manchester Experience stand out!

1 - Hidden Secrets in Iconic Locations
Manchester is a hive of activity all year round, and that’s why it makes it such a great location for the Race Across The World live experience.
Any Mancunian can give you a list of a hundred reasons why Manchester is the coolest city in the UK, but even they can’t divulge all the city secrets that are out there, waiting to be discovered.
If you’re local to Manchester, you’ll definitely find yourself in familiar spots along the Race Across The World Manchester experience. However, don’t be fooled. You’ll be seeing them from a totally new perspective, and don’t be surprised if you have to double-back and take a second look.
There’s a lot more to this city than meets the eye!

2 - Passport Stamps, Ticket Stacks, Fez Hats and Lucky Cats
The Race Across The World Manchester experience is the official experience of the hit BBC TV show, so if you’re a huge fan, you’ll come up against a few challenges that you may have seen on screen before…with a twist.
There are three physical puzzles you have to contend with during the race. There’s a chance you’ve already seen pics of teams deciphering them over on our Instagram, but we’ll keep the spoilers to a minimum. Here’s what you need to know…
If you’re the kind of traveller who…
- Can’t resist snapping a pic of your passport at the airport
- Wants to fill every page with stamps from all over the world
- Always brings back a souvenir from places you visit
- Knows a thing or two about Mancunian slang
- Enjoys taking time to read a menu abroad
You’re going to absolutely ace these puzzles!

3 - Mancunian Soul and Global Spirit
There just aren’t enough words to describe Manchester’s vibe, although “vibrant”, “cool”, “bold” and “iconic” are a few that spring to mind.
The Race Across The World Manchester experience involves buying directions from “passersby”, and your chances of topping the leaderboard hinges on making wise financial decisions (even if it only affects your virtual currency!).
Who are these passersby, you ask? Well, you’ll be given 6 options over the course of the race, all with their own personality and way of communicating. These include a street artist, football fans, a tourist, a tour guide, a raver and a student.
Remember, pick wisely, because the quality of these directions you’ll receive come at a price (and yes, you get what you pay for in this instance!).

4 - Loved by Locals, Played by Everyone
The Race Across The World experiences have been designed to be enjoyed by everyone, and we really mean that.
Families, friends, colleagues and couples have all taken on the race in Manchester, and we knew that there were two groups in particular who we would really need to impress: superfans and locals.
Luckily, the feedback we’ve received speaks for itself:
“Excellent experience, has a nice level of challenge to keep you thinking without being too difficult. The experience takes you around Manchester to sites you wouldn't likely visit. Was a brilliant day out, would recommend.”
— Team Kate and Ryan (Race Across The World Experience, Manchester)
“There was so much fun, laughter, and a good bit of healthy competition (though you can be as chilled or competitive as you like!).What surprised us most was just how many fascinating facts about Manchester we learnt along the way - and that’s coming from born-and-bred Mancunians who thought we knew it all!”
— Team SJ + Chris-tination Unknown (Race Across The World Experience, Manchester)

5 - Scrumptious Scran Opportunities
For lots of teams, the main goal of Race Across The World: The Experience is about tracking down that guest book and getting their team’s name in it as quickly as possible.
But don’t let your competitive spirit get in the way of taking a break!
We’ve included checkpoint venues to give teams a chance to catch their breath and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat (with a discount!) and it’s also where you pick up physical puzzles along the way. And yes, the timer pauses here so no need to rush.
Here’s just one of the great reviews we’ve had about the Manchester checkpoint venues:
“Even as locals, we saw so many parts of Manchester we’d never seen. We ended up eating at the finish line restaurant, and would highly recommend. Incredible food.”
— Team Dippers (Race Across The World Experience, Manchester)

6 - Plenty of Places to Put the “Pic” in Picturesque
If you’re a team who loves to take a selfie, you’re in the right place.
The Manchester Race Across The World Experience takes you beyond the tourist trail and into plenty of places you’d (probably) never think to visit, and we’ve made sure to include some stunning backgrounds for your photo opportunities.
So if you’re into vibrant street art, dark academia, modern sculptures, water features, industrial architecture, a mirror selfie, or posing with props (including that very fetching red fez hat we hinted at), you know what to do!
