7 “What If” Moments on Race Across the World: The Experience

Don’t worry, these are all hypothetical situations that might happen on Race Across the World: The Experience. Here’s how to deal with them if they come up!

Race Across the World: The Experience is largely an adventure of unknowns. Yes, you’ll only be playing with who you want there and you can look up the start and finish locations if you really want to (spoiler alert!), but from beginning to end, your adventure will be decided by you, the players.

As the official live experience of the hit TV show, Race Across the World: The Experience is a self-guided adventure where you’re in charge.

Wherever you play, be it in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Bristol or York, it’ll just be you, your teammates and the city streets you’re playing in. But that doesn’t mean help is unavailable.

We’ve put together 7 scenarios that prove that while Race Across the World: The Experience is entirely your own experience, there’s always help at hand. Read on!

What If…We end up following another team around?

We’re not saying this is impossible, but it’s extremely unlikely. We’ve built the experience to be played by multiple teams simultaneously, so there is always more than one way to get between checkpoints.

Just like the TV show, teams are challenged with navigating from one point to another with the goal of getting to the end location as savvily as they can. This time, however, it’ll be without public transport.

At the start of each leg, teams will have to decide which “guide” to use for directions. Even teams who choose the same guide will be sent to different checkpoints to avoid following in anyone’s footsteps.

All decisions made in-game will impact the way you get from A to B, your final score and even where you end up at the very end. For this reason, teams who want to play head-to-head must be on the same booking to ensure they finish at the same destination.

What If…The Puzzles are Too Difficult?

Race Across the World: The Experience has been designed to be challenging, but you don’t need to be an expert puzzle-solver, logician or trivia mastermind to complete it.

If, at any point, you struggle with the race, there’s in-game help at your disposal. Send “HINT” to get an extra clue, or “LOST” if you’re truly stumped.

All Race Across the World experiences take place on live city streets, and sometimes unforeseen road closures, scaffolding or crowds can make navigating the streets difficult. If you can’t see a clue or something’s blocking you, send us a message on WhatsApp (a link is given to you at the start of the race) and we’ll get you back on track.

What If…We Don’t Want to Play Competitively?

If you don’t want to play competitively, that’s absolutely fine! Just ignore the timer and the leaderboard and explore at your own pace.

You’ll always play with who you’ve booked to do the race with, whether that’s just one other person (a minimum of two players per team is required) or in multiple teams of up to 8 players.

It’s your race and we encourage you to play at whatever pace suits you!

What If…We Have Additional Needs on The Race?

All Race Across the World experiences are available in step-free, dog and family-friendly versions.

When setting up your booking, just tick the box that applies to you and your race will be altered accordingly.

If you’re unsure about whether the race is suitable for you or your teammates, send us an email and we’ll get back to you!

What If…We Need to Change The Date of Our Experience?

Race Across the World: The Experience runs 7 days a week, minus some Bank Holidays, rain or shine.

We’re always happy to reschedule the date of your experience, just get in touch with us and let us know. Please note that as ticket prices are set per time slot, original time slots will have to be honoured.

What If…We Know Too Much or Too Little About The City?

Good news, folks! Race Across the World: The Experience is designed to be enjoyed by everyone, whether you’re a lifelong local or it’s the first time you’re setting foot in a city.

Locals, we’ll start with you. We’re sorry to say that your abundance of knowledge of shortcuts won’t be of too much use to you during the experience, because you’ll only unlock your next checkpoint by solving the puzzles in front you. We hope you’ll love rediscovering your city for what it is: a treasure trove of hidden gems!

Visitors, don’t be dismayed. The only time you might wish you had local knowledge is if one of the in-game guides happens to speak the local lingo, but don’t worry, you’re never obliged to pick them! All guides have pros and cons, just make sure you give their bio a quick read before ploughing ahead.

What If…We Haven’t Seen the Show?

As the official experience of the hit TV show, Race Across the World: The Experience has been designed to appeal to fans, but newcomers are also very welcome.

All aspects of the game and instructions are explained in detail so even if you have no idea why the guest book is significant, you’ll still have a great time. If you are a fan, look out for any fun Easter eggs you can spot!
