7 Superpowers You’ll Wish You Had on Race Across The World: The Experience

Find out what superpowers previous teams of Race Across The World: The Experience wished they could rely on during the race!

Race Across The World: The Experience is a battle of wits as well as speed, and the challenges you’ll face while navigating to and from checkpoints will test you on all kinds of skills, some of which you might not even be aware you have (yet).

The good news is, no matter your skill set, you’re more than capable of completing the race and topping the leaderboard as long as you work together as a team.

With that said, there’s no harm in wishing for a secret superpower to supercharge your efforts.

Over on our Instagram, we asked our community of racers what superpower they would pick to help them get through their race. The only rule we gave was that it couldn’t be teleportation because, what would be the fun in that?

Luckily, they’re a creative bunch and gave us some great insights into what skills teams on the Race Across The World Experiences desire above all others.

Curious to see what they are? Read on to find out!

1. Superpower No.1: Superspeed

Well, we saw this one coming, but there’s no denying that it’d be handy (as long as you know which way you’re going).

However, there’s a big part of us that says that speed isn’t everything, and not just because we’re familiar with Aesop’s Fable, The Tortoise and The Hare

While you do need to be aware of the timer if you’re trying to win, don’t forget that your budget and ability to solve puzzles also impact your overall score. Besides, you’ll miss all the city secrets if you whizz through too fast!

2. Superpower No. 2: A Magical Smile

Now we’re talking! What would a magical smile help you out with, you ask?

Luckily, the user who contributed this answer elaborated a bit more to give us a better picture of why this would be helpful:

“Any person who I ask for help falls under my projected joy and goes that extra mile to help.”

The great thing about this superpower is something we’re all already equipped with. Put a genuine grin on your face, be polite and friendly, and you’ll probably be amazed at how much better things feel. Besides, it’ll make someone’s day!

3. Superpower No.3: Language Skills

Unsurprisingly, language skills turned out to be one of the most popular answers we received.

Even though the Race Across The World Experiences are set in the City of London, London’s West End and Manchester, many of the puzzles draw on languages and cultures from all over the world.

But effective communication isn’t all about having a wide vocabulary in lots of languages.

As one user pointed out: “Communication is the most important thing in the race, with both your teammates and the locals.”

4. Superpower No.4: Mind Reading

Ooh, we like this one a lot! When we first read it, we’ll admit we assumed that mind reading would be especially useful for gaining insights into opponents’ ideas and movements.

But this user actually had a great reason for suggesting mind reading with much less nefarious intentions, at least initially:

“The best superpower for the Race would be mind reading, so you could know what your team mates really think (super helpful when there’s a debate to be had!) and of course what your opponents are planning!”

5. Superpower No.5: Organiser Telepathy

Or as the user who made this suggestion put it: “The uncanny ability to perfectly mimic the internal monologue of any treasure hunt organiser.”

Isn’t that mind reading again, you may ask? Well, no. This user means business, because they’re coming for us, the organisers!

We’ll admit, the way this user formulated their suggestion really gave us a chuckle.

Bad luck, folks: you’re not going to get any secrets out of us. But you could check out our article on Ways To Win Race Across The World: The Experience if you fancy some hints…

6. Superpower No.6: A No-Needs Boost

We can’t deny that the logic of never needing to rest, go to the loo or stop for a drink or a bite to eat would be helpful in getting through the race, but at what cost?

If you ask us, the breaks are an integral part of the Race Across The World Experience and it’d be a real shame to miss out on them!

We’ve chosen some great local venues for race teams to stop and recharge (and they even have exclusive discounts attached!). This is also where you’ll take on your physical puzzles and relax with your teammates. Don’t wish your downtime away!

7. Superpower No.7: The Ability to Freeze Time

Interestingly, this last superpower is the antithesis of the previous one, and we are so on board with it.

Here’s what the user said: “The ability to freeze time. You can stop the clock and enjoy the experience, the culture. The ability to not miss a thing in all the amazing places you explore!

Here’s the great news: completing Race Across The World: The Experience isn’t all about winning. Feel free to take as long as you need, explore for as long as you like and absorb as much of your surroundings as you want!
