Whether you’re a fan who has watched every episode or you love the idea of a puzzle-filled adventure, you’ll need to know the rules of Race Across the World: The Experience before you get started.
As the official live experience of the hit TV show, Race Across the World: The Experience is your chance to hunt down the guest book in a UK city with some twists and turns thrown in.
The format of the experience takes everything you love from Race Across the World - budgeting, strategising, adventure, and discovery - but lets you participate in the adventure and explore a UK city much closer to home.
Handily, we’ve got a list of the rules of Race Across the World: The Experience summed up for you right here so you’ll know exactly what to expect. Ready, set…go!
Rule 1: You Must Have At Least One Teammate
Race Across the World: The Experience is a team adventure, so as much as you might think you’d be your own ideal teammate, you’ll have to find at least one other player to keep you company to take part. Trust us, you’ll need them!
The maximum team size for the race is 8 players, so if you have a bigger group, you’ll have to split into smaller teams.

Rule 2: All Teams Need an Adult Player Present
Tickets for Race Across the World: The Experience may only be purchased by adults (18+), and the experience was created with an adult audience in mind.
The overall difficulty of the riddles and puzzles are rated as moderately challenging for adults, so accompanying younger players will need help and guidance to complete them.
Players are instructed to collect physical puzzles from checkpoint venues throughout the race, many of which are pubs where alcohol is served.
Teams with younger players should select “Family-Friendly” during setup to ensure that checkpoint venues are appropriate for children, but please be aware that doing this will not alter the difficulty of the race.

Rule 3: No Public Transport
Sorry folks, Race Across the World: The Experience is a foot race so no public transport is allowed. However, all 6 races can be made step-free at setup.
Why no public transport, you ask? The main reason is so that you can experience a location or a city distraction-free and see your surroundings with a whole new appreciation. After all, we miss so much while hurtling underground or sitting on a bus. You’ll be amazed at what you discover!

Rule 4: Virtual Budget Only
At the beginning of the race, your team will be provided with a virtual budget to manage that has to last the whole race.
Everything you need to complete the race is included in your ticket price, apart from any optional food or drink you may wish to purchase at checkpoints (and these often come with handy discounts, too!).
Read more about how your virtual budget works here.

Rule 5: Mobile Phones Are a Must
Yes, you read that correctly! In Race Across the World: The Experience, your phone is a key tool for managing your budget, receiving directions and unlocking puzzles.
Everyone in a team can receive messages (and we’d recommend doing this!) but only one player per team needs to reply. Make sure you have a battery pack or a phone charger with you as you’ll need access to WhatsApp throughout the race.

Rule 6: Go At Your Own Pace
Okay, so maybe this isn’t a rule as such but it’s definitely something to bear in mind. Yes, it’s called Race Across the World: The Experience, but if you don’t want to break a sweat or you’d rather take your time exploring, that’s absolutely fine by us.
After all, this experience is about discovering hidden gems and exploring a place like never before, so if you’re more interested in that aspect than bragging rights, feel free to go at your own pace!

Rule 7: Each Race Can Be Played Once
Currently, there are 6 available Race Across the World experiences. Each is unique to the city or location where the race unfolds, and each has its own set of puzzles, characters, riddles and more.
Although there are multiple route options, we can’t guarantee that you won’t visit the same checkpoints on a second try. Similarly, as the physical puzzles remain the same, you will already know the answers on a re-run.
But don’t let that stop you from entering another race in a new location!
